Why Great Wedding Photographers Use Both Natural Light and Flash
One of the biggest misconceptions in wedding photography is that using natural light is somehow superior to using flash. The reality is more nuanced. Natural light is beautiful and I use it whenever possible. But wedding days don’t always provide ideal conditions. Churches are often dark. Receptions frequently take place after sunset. Dance floors can have challenging lighting situations. As a wedding photographer serving Boston, Massachusetts, and New England, my job is to adapt. Using flash isn’t about changing the authenticity of a moment. It’s about making sure the moment is captured well. The best photographers aren’t committed to one technique. They’re committed to creating great photographs regardless of the conditions.
