The Wedding Photos You’ll Treasure Most Years From Now
The most meaningful wedding photos aren’t always the ones couples expect. Here’s what becomes priceless over time.
When couples think about wedding photography, they often imagine portraits first. The beautiful sunset portraits. The first kiss. The first dance.
But after photographing weddings across Massachusetts and New England, I’ve noticed something interesting. The photos couples value most years later are often the ones they never specifically requested. Photos of parents, grandparents, friends laughing during speeches, guests interacting during cocktail hour.
These images become increasingly meaningful as life changes. That is one reason my photojournalism background plays such a large role in how I photograph weddings. I’m constantly looking beyond the obvious moments. The goal is to preserve not only how your wedding looked, but also who was there and how they interacted with one another. Many couples don’t fully appreciate these photographs until years later. Then they become priceless.
