A Late Summer Family Photoshoot in Concord, MA
There's something special about photographing a family in Concord, Massachusetts. This late summer session with a family of four took us from the water's edge at Walden Pond to the open fields along the Battle Road Trail in Minute Man National Historical Park, and the results are some of my favorite family portraits of the season.
Starting at Walden Pond
We began the session at Walden Pond, where the calm water and surrounding trees made a beautiful, relaxed backdrop. The soft light and late summer atmosphere were perfect for easy, natural family photos. Mom, dad, and their two kids settled in quickly, and we mixed classic poses, with everyone looking at the camera, with candid moments of the kids laughing, walking, and just being themselves.
Golden Hour Along the Battle Road Trail
From there, we headed to the Battle Road Trail near Minute Man National Historical Park. The wide open fields and long stretches of space were ideal for golden hour. As the sun dropped lower, the light turned warm and glowing, giving every photo that dreamy, late-summer feel. This is one of my favorite spots for family photography in Concord, MA because there's room to move, play, and capture real connection without a crowd in the background.
Posed and Candid, the Best of Both
The best family photos balance both styles. We captured traditional portraits of the whole family together, plus individual moments between siblings and with mom and dad. The candid shots, like a hand held on the walk or a laugh that came out of nowhere, are often the ones families treasure most.
